Malaysia, land of eternal summer, with an area of some 330,000 sq. km housing a population close to 30 million is situated in central South-east Asia, bordering Thailand in the north and Singapore and Indonesia to the south and Philippines in the east. This fast developing nation is composed of Peninsular Malaysia which has 12 states and the two states of Sabah and Sarawak on the north coast of the island of Borneo some 600 km away across the South China Sea.
