Looking at Europe's extreme weather costs for transportation in 2040

The EWENT project (Extreme Weather impacts on European Networks of Transport) made a pioneering effort to look into impacts, consequences, costs and risks presented by extreme weather. What was found was that the items well known to transportation and road engineers - accidents, time losses, and operational costs - still present the major cost items to be considered as the bases for more holistic strategy and policy work of both national and EU policy decision-makers.
