Taking decisions in the rehabilitation of flexible pavements based on non-destructive measurements - Developing Countries Prize

The present paper outlines a proposal that allows in a reasoned manner to develop an intervention approach with regard to the rehabilitation of the pavement, as well as the determination of the thicknesses of reinforcement, based on the deflection bowl parameters. Evidence of the method is described through a study case from Angola, where confirmations of the deflection with the Benkelman beam and the use of the Falling Weight Deflectometer (FWD) prove the validity of the proposed procedure, which speeds up obtaining the results from the diagnosis and the rehabilitation solutions.
