I will start with tree-lined avenues in an urban context. As a former road director in Berlin West, I can testify that trees have been planted in many streets for esthetical, environmental and road safety reasons as well. Trees are excellent to create urban rooms giving them a pretty image and to influence drivers' behaviour in a positive way to safer driving in urban areas.
