This issue of Routes/Roads, the PIARC Association’s newsmagazine, is one for the archives since it contains the General Report issued from the 26th World Road Congress, held in Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates) in October 2019. This report is one of the Association’s longstanding traditions; by distilling the essence of a Congress into a compact format, the memory of each milestone can be perpetuated. Such culminating moments assemble the world’s road community for the purpose of sharing the latest technical breakthroughs and best practices, in pursuit of forging new ideas. As is customary, this report has been prepared by the host country, with valuable input from the various session leaders… a huge round of thanks to all involved. In the near future, the entire package of Congress documents, including session conclusions, selected articles and presentations, will be available for consultation on the www.piarc.org website as a full set of proceedings.
