The Republic of Côte d’Ivoire (RCI) is a West African country at the edge of the Gulf of Guinea. It covers 322,462 km2, with an estimated population of 26,594,750 in 2017. Although the country’s political and administrative capital is Yamoussoukro, almost all its institutions are in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire’s main economic centre. While the official language is French, over 60 indigenous languages are in everyday use. The country is a member of ECOWAS and the African Union.
